Minutes for the Meeting of April 1, 2009

The meeting was called to order at 7:00 by President John Neboda.

The minutes from March meeting were read.

Roll call was taken with 12 members present and no guests or new members.

The Treasurer’s report was read.  We have $1336.23 in our account.  One check for $90  to be written to AMA for yearly dues.

OLD BUSINESS:

The floor was opened for discussion of old business.  Everyone thought the mall show was very good.  We hope that some of the people who stopped to visit will eventually become members.  No one has shown up with one of the special price coupons yet.  Bob suggested that we clean out the Roster of members who haven't active or paid dues in the past few years, and send them one of the coupons to try to encourage them to return to the club.

We had a discussion of some of the problems we have had with our landlord.  Bottom line is DO NOT drive off of the path back to the field for any reason.  If the path is blocked, get out of your vehicle and go knock on the door to POLITELY ask Donnie about moving whatever is blocking the drive.  Remember, Donnie only has one eye, so even though you may see him working outside, he may not see you.  This is the only flying site we have, so please be careful  so we don't lose our field.

The Geezer photo was identified as Bud Zeher.  I will put up a new photo soon.

Someone brought in a box of club items, which included a bunch of old photos.  I will scan them and add to computer and may put some of them up on the website.

NEW BUSINESS:

There was a discussion of a possible new flying site, but after discussion it was decided to pass on the offer at this time.  The site is off John Beers Road, but the site is designed for real plans to land, and would require you to carry all your planes and gear a couple hundred yards down to the field, and then back uphill afterwards.  The owner wants nothing to do with ama or insurances, etc. which could present a problem in the future.

John is going to grade the driveway once it dries out.  The ruts are so deep that you may damage your vehicle if you try to go back there.  We will post on the internet site once he has it fixed.

MODEL OF THE MONTH:

Mike Gaishin brought in his finished plane.  He has done a great job.  His weight came in at 10.5 pounds.  He powered it with a YS-120.  Pictures can be found on the projects page.

Meeting was adjourned at 7:45
