Minutes for the Meeting of  April, 7th, 2010

The meeting was called to order after 7:00 by President John Nedoba.

The minutes from the March meeting were read.

Roll call was taken. There were 10 members present. There were no guests.

Update: John got an update from Ron that are balance is now 1370 (4/25/2010)

 OLD BUSINESS:

We need to get some volunteers to help mow, dump trash, and other field maintenance items.    Dick has made up a sign up sheet and passed it to the members present to sign up for when they would like to mow the grass and other such maintenance items.  We will post the list on the building this spring.  Anyone else who would like to volunteer, please contact Dick Klass so he can add you to the list.

With several planes lost around the field, we had a discussion of having a possible search party in very early spring before the trees start leafing out.   We need to determine a date soon.  Please come out and help in this effort, maybe one day it will be your plane we will be looking for.

Bob Christiano has moved to his new home in South Bend.  He has decided to clear out some of his inventory and has donated them to the club to put up for auction.  As soon as he gets settled in and separates these items, we will get some pictures and information and post on the website.    So watch the website for further information and instructions.

Dick Mathias asked that we put a “Want Ad” section on our website for people to post things they have for sale, or things they are looking for.  I think that is a good idea.  So if you have some items lying around you’d like to get rid of, email me some pictures, descriptions, etc. and I will post on the website for you.    I will only put up club related items however, so don’t send me stuff on your grandmothers rock collection, and such.

The first item I will post, is Dick is looking for a Futaba FP-R127 DF 7 channel FM low band(20) receiver.  If anyone has one they would like to sell, please contact Dick Mathias.

NEW BUSINESS:

John reported that Steve Metzger is now in Ann Arbor for the next 6 months undergoing his bone marrow transplant.  Hopefully all goes well and we see him back out flying in the future.

Just to stave off any confusion; I am not at U of M yet.  They have to find me a donor first, no idea how long that may take.  Once a donor is found, I will be in Ann Arbor for about 100 days, first 30 or so in the hospital, the remainder in some type of local accommodations.
Just a note, son Capt. Tom's wife Heather just delivered a bouncing baby boy, nicknamed "Tater"

Steve

John has picked up the mower and has it repaired and prepaired for another season of mowing.

Dick reported that he has planted some ornamental grasses on each end of the flightline to help you visualize the line.

The Toledo Show is this weekend, but no one at the meeting was planning to go.  If anyone goes, please email me at lwringer@qtm.net and tell us how the show was, and if you took any pictures, send along for me to post.

MODEL OF THE MONTH:

There was no model of the month.  Jim McElroy(sp) brought in some really old single channel gear and motor.  It was quite interesting to see some of the things that were used years and years ago.  We take what we have today for granted, so seeing these museum pieces makes you have a better appreciation for what we have today.

Meeting was adjourned.
