Whirlwinds of Southwest Michigan
Minutes for the Meeting of October 7th. , 2009
The
meeting was called to order after 7:15 by President John Neboda.
The
minutes from September meeting were not read.
Roll
call was taken. There were 6 members present. There were no guests.
The Treasurer was not present so there was no Treasurer’s report
OLD BUSINESS:
Dick
has mowed the field for the last time this year and has put away everything for
the winter. John plans to pick up
tractor to take home for winter so he can try to make repairs. Dick reported a “catch” in the steering as
well as the slow hydraulic lifting.
Remember
that starting in October we have reduced flying hours to allow the neighbors to
hunt on the adjacent property. Flying
will only be allowed on Wednesdays and Sundays.
We are waiting on a loader to get some free gravel to repair the
potholes in the lane. We are still waiting on a him to
get a loader to load the stone.
Continued from
September meeting:
John
asked for ideas for winter meetings.
Pete said he’d like to see more classes on fiberglassing. Also he would like class on soldering. It was also suggested that we ask Brenner to
give us a session on electrics, and proper wiring, charging, etc. of the lipo batteries.
Anyone having a request for a class, please contact
John, or send an email thru the website.
We
asked everyone at the meeting to call Larry on his cell phone or email lwringer@qtm.net
whenever they go to the field to give him an update on field conditions, who’s there, etc. for him to post on the web site. We are
trying to make web site more useful to the members, so it would be nice to get
input from the members so that you can check website before driving all the way
to the field.
NEW BUSINESS:
Most
of the meeting was spent considering the expenses to maintain the club, and the
lack of funds in our treasury to pay those bills. If we can’t come up with the necessary
funding, we may have to disband/suspend the club due to lack of interest in
this area. We realize that we are in a
bad economic situation in the country and many people don’t have the extra
funds to be able to afford this hobby. With
low membership, there are less bodies to distribute
the costs of running the club. Our
attempts to attract new members failed this year. We have decided to ask each current member to
reply to a survey on our website to help us determine the health of our club
and to determine how many people will commit to being members for 2010. With this information we can hopefully determine
our viability and determine what our dues will have to be to cover the static
bills. If anyone has any suggestions on
obtaining the necessary funding to continue, we would appreciate hearing from
you.
MODEL OF THE MONTH:
No
model of the month.
Meeting was adjourned.
